The story behind Cinepups - who we are and why we do what we do.
Hi, I'm Arthur - and that handsome chap on my shoulder is
Rufus.
I've spent the last few years working as a DoP on everything from global campaigns for Adidas, Aston Martin and FIFA to Netflix Top 10's, and one thing I kept feeling was that the camera rental world can sometimes make things way harder than they need to be.
Confusing pricing, intimidating environments, endless email threads, and the sense that you need to “know someone” before you even walk through the door.
We wanted to create something different.
Cinepups is an independent camera rental house based in Battersea, London, built around supporting the next generation of creative talent with a fresh outlook on what a rental house should be.
We believe pricing should be transparent and the process free of unnecessary headaches or countless spreadsheets for the crew responsible. That's why we created something entirely new to the industry: “The Dogs Bollocks Package Builder” A fully customisable package system that includes everything you actually want and need, at barking prices, through a process that's fast, straightforward, and genuinely hassle-free.
At Cinepups, we care about the small details because they actually matter on set. Every package is customised, meticulously prepped, tested, and organised by people who are properly nerdy about kit while also understanding real production workflows. No missing accessories. No messy builds. No unnecessary cases. No surprises halfway through the shoot day.
We also think camera builds should look cool. Because honestly… who doesn't?
At the end of the day, we want renting gear to feel simple, personal, and actually enjoyable.
As for the name… it really did come from our two dogs. Meet Hansel and Rufus, our unofficial moral officers, who inspired the branding and regularly hang around the kit room keeping an eye on things (mostly by greeting visitors, demanding puppuccinos, and supervising builds from the nearest sofa).
